Fulfill Your Purpose

Resist the Urge to Call it Quits

It’s so exciting when you’re putting all of your time and energy into something that is extremely important to you, and you get great feedback and the results you were hoping for are right on target. But how do you keep going when the high praises and great feedback suddenly stop, and the results are no longer producing the results you had hoped for?

Naturally some questions might arise. Has my work suddenly gone downhill? Are people no longer interested in what I have to offer? Did I make a mistake choosing this path? I’m sure anyone who has taken the road to follow their dreams and fulfill their purpose will tell you, it’s a common thing. It’s going to happen. It’s not you. Keep going!

So, what are some things we can do, and some things we can keep in mind, so that we’re not sidetracked by a lack of praises or low progress.

We can remember why we got started on this path in the first place. I can clearly remember why I got started. I got started because I had a strong belief that there was more to my story. That although I’m a mom, and that’s a huge part of who I am, it isn’t the whole story. I got on this path, because I want to finish my story.

We can contemplate the alternative. Honestly, going after your dreams can be scary. Especially if it involves becoming an entrepreneur. But what’s the alternative. Settling into a job that you may like, but aren’t passionate about; just so you can play it safe. It’s an option. It’s one that many people take, but it won’t be without regret. You’ll always wonder if you could’ve made it. You’ll always wonder if you had what it takes. I’m guessing the answer is yes, or the dream wouldn’t live so strongly in you, and you wouldn’t have the gifts and talents to support it.

We can encourage ourselves. Who said you can’t be your own biggest cheerleader? It’s so kind and appreciative when others recognize our gifts, talents, and hard work and share encouraging words and compliments with us. But how about we do that for ourselves. Instead of waiting for someone else to tell you how good you’re doing, tell yourself. Even take it one step further, every once in a while, treat yourself to a small gift. You deserve it!

We can choose to be a person of quality character. I don’t know about you, but character means a lot to me. I want to be a woman, a mom, of quality character. I think part of having that quality character, is being a person who refuses to give up and quit, every time things aren’t going her way.  It’s choosing to have a resilient attitude, when it would be so easy to throw in the towel.

I also think it’s important to remember that slow progress is progress. I love the quote, “slow and steady wins the race.” Remember, the only way you will ever see no progress, is if you fail to keep going. So get up, and start cheering yourself on!

  1. I love that quote “slow and steady wins the race.” it couldn’t be more accurate. If you are progressing slower that the other it doesn’ mean you are worst. Everything will come in perfect gime
